Sara Alexi lives part time in Greece herself,so she is very familiar with it's people and places. It is certainly as close as I will ever get to being there. I never like to give the story plot away in a review. I feel if someone gives everything away I don't need to read the book. Reading about the people of Greece is an adventure you shouldn't miss. The author expertly takes you into the life and thoughts of realistic people. Learning the ways of life in various areas of Greece is both educational and entertaining. The stories are of every day people and their every day struggles. We may be many miles apart and have a whole different life style but in our hearts,where it counts, people are really much the same everywhere. I love meeting every character and learning how they tie in with the characters of past books. This is a series and everyone falls into place with past books. Every story brings more clarification of a community,yet you can read them as a stand alone. I prefer to follow in order however. While lost in her stories,I am there with these wonderful people. Sara Alexi lovingly brings Greece to her readers. This is one of the most fascinating series I have ever read. I am deeply "into" it and enjoy the woven stories about all the inhabitants of this village with their back stories. I have learned to pay attention to all the bits of information about characters as they are all clues and you will meet that character again someday. I will have to read many over again as I read them out of order and galloped through too quickly. Each story is a stand-alone tale, but so enhanced when you "know" the supporting characters from an earlier story. I think I have figured out the actual village location and the name of the island off shore. (Not telling! That would be a spoiler). Sara, I would love a map of the village to support the stories. Also recipes (especially Spiro's Lemon Sauce which Stella serves in story after story)! And a lexicon at the end of every book of Greek phrases and expressions that characters have used. I always think I will be able to find them after I finish the story and then put them down and have no easy way to find again. Someday I want to go sit at Stella's taverna. Also, as I am Greek and study genealogy, I would love to hear the village ancestor stories.
